Scan Day at MDA
Today, I had a CT scan of my Head/Neck to recheck the nodule that keeps growing behind my voice box. I also had labs and doctor's appointments follow-ups. Exhausted is an understatement. I have been going since 8 am, now 7 pm. Back-to-back appointments are rough. I couldn’t eat until after 7 pm because of the scans and labs. I saw my team, neck surgeon, and breast doctor to review my results today. My Head/Neck surgeon said that the nodule behind my voice box and jugular vein we have been monitoring for the last six months had grown again within three months since I was last there, February. The concerning issue is I cannot have a biopsy because then I could die on the table due to where the nodule is located. My Oncologist and Head/Neck surgeon both said the same thing. We must wait until this nodule grows and take it from there. My salivary glands will eventually have to come out if the antibiotics for the infections worsen and when the antibiotics stop responding. It has been happening for quite some time—another thing to watch and monitor.
My mammogram came back fine. I am so thrilled everything is good. I just have calcifications. I only need another mammogram once I am 40—one less thing to worry about.
My Mother and I decided to try something different. We were sick of the hotel's restaurant. Even though I was super exhausted, I just wanted to eat, shower then crash. The Rotary House told us there was a shuttle that would come pick us up and drop us off, where there were a lot of restaurants. Rice City is a 10-15 drive from the Rotary House. We were told this is a tourist area with many restaurants and shops. We enjoyed a burger at this place called Hopdoddy which was a burger bar. I got to cheat on my diet. I usually don't eat red meat because I am on a heart-healthy diet, and my team doesn't want me to have red meat often. Check out the photographs and video below. If you’re in Houston for a visit, go check out Rice City.
I have to go back to MDA in three or six months. I am waiting for an answer from my Team.
